Windy Retreats

PROBLEM

In Denmark, prejudices about wind turbines are standing in the way of the green transition. Prejudice and myths about them like being noisy, shady, and affecting sleep are just some of the things that have resulted in local resistance against wind turbines projects. In fact, 82% of all wind farm projects have been stopped by local protests.

IDEA

To debunk the myth about wind turbines we created Windy Retreats: The first rental service for homes located next to wind turbines. In collaboration with real wind turbine neighbours, we made their homes available to rent, so people could find out for themselves what it’s actually like being a neighbour to the green transition.

RESULTS

• 1.277 booking inquiries

• +900.000 Danes are more positive towards wind turbines

• 76% National ad recall

• Major news outlets picked up on the campaign and entered the debate
